An Inuk artist from Postville, Nunatsiavut

Erica Jacque alternates between textile arts, acrylic painting, and stick‑and‑poke tattooing as her mediums of choice — embroidered earrings, hoop art, and miniature dioramas stitched by hand. Inspired by artists like Kenojuak Ashevak and Annie Pootoogook, she recreates iconic Inuit art in embroidery, and comes from a family full of artists, including her grandmother Polly Jacque.

Her work has been featured in print publications including Inuit Art Quarterly and First American Art Magazine, as well as Elements (2023), a collection of poetry by Jamesie Fournier. In 2022, she participated in the Reflections of Ourselves art project with the Orillia Museum of Art and History in Orillia, ON.

Erica has completed several digital and physical commissions — including a mural at Aqsarniit Middle School in Iqaluit, NU, a watercolour series giving speech-language pathologists culturally relevant materials for Northern children, and a set of illustrations for the Right to Food society. She has also auctioned her embroidered earrings to raise money for the Nain Safe House.

She completed the Ikajurniq Tattooing Program at the Ilitaqsiniq Nunavut Literacy Council and is a recent graduate of the Pirurvik Institute in Iqaluit.
